First Time RV Camping? What to Know Before You Book

Every summer we welcome families making their very first RV trip some in a brand-new camper, some in a borrowed one, all of them a little nervous about hookups, dump stations, and doing it wrong in front of strangers. Here's the honest truth: everyone here was a beginner once, and campground people are the friendliest teachers you'll ever meet. This is what we'd tell you over the office counter.
First, understand the site types. A water-and-electric site gives you exactly that, fresh water and power at your site. A full hookup site adds a sewer connection, which means your sinks and shower drain all weekend without a trip to the dump station. Second, know your rig's numbers before you book. Length, and whether you need 30- or 50-amp power. That's genuinely all a campground needs to put you on the right site. If backing a trailer into a spot makes you sweat, ask about a pull-thru site, you drive in one end and out the other, no reversing required.
Third, the arrival routine is simpler than the internet makes it look: park, level, chock the wheels, connect electric first, then water, then sewer. Ten minutes once you've done it twice. And if anything has you stumped, ask your neighbor, RV people love being asked.
What it costs here: our water-and-electric sites start at $74 a night, 30-amp full hookups at $85, and 50-amp at $93, with weekly and monthly rates that bring those numbers down if you're staying longer. Fire ring and picnic table come standard, and there's wifi on the full-hookup sites.
Last tip: don't overplan the first trip. Book a weekend, keep meals simple, and let the campground do the entertaining, between the pool, the pond, and Saturday activities, your only real job is lighting the campfire.
